Abstractions
Through paintings and collage-paintings, I try to abstract nature to evoke joy and peace. I use colors, movement, and mark making relying on the “push/pull” technique of Hans Hoffman to create a color composition and interesting tensions within the surface, while also paying attention to the strength of the negative space in each piece. All the pieces used in my collage-paintings are from my own previous works that find a new life after being torn and repurposed.
